Course Outline

  1. Weigh the Strengths and Weaknesses of a person to determine his character; Comprehend French Expressions with Animals to refer to one’s character. For example, “To be talkative like a magpie”.

  2. Master the different forms of Interrogative Pronouns “Which, Which one(s)”; Apply the Interrogative Pronouns to structure questions about common people’s names and character.

  3. Revise the vocabulary to describe the Physical Appearance of someone; Embellish the description with extended vocabulary about the eyes, hairstyles and other parts of the face; Understand a text about Illustrious Strangers; Apply the vocabulary learnt to make the sketch of a wanted criminal.

  4. Learn new verbs related to Locomotion; Use the different forms of the Indefinite Article “all/every” to speak about habitual actions.

  5. Review and learn new vocabulary associated with Emotions and Feelings; Read and discuss about a text on Parisians; Infer about strangers’ characters; Recall and enact a dialogue from a video based on Anonymous Emotions.

  6. Gather vocabulary around the theme of Music from a text on a Pop Star; Describe an emotional experience using the structure “to be + subjunctive” and “to be + infinitive”. For example, “I am so happy to attend concerts here. I was surprised that the flautist was so energetic on stage last night.”

  1. Review and learn new vocabulary related to News and the Press; Listen and talk about the News going digital by applying Adverbs of Time (First, Then, Finally, etc.); Make a small presentation about famous newspapers and how they have evolved.
  2. Learn vocabulary associated with the Television; Familiarize oneself with the French Media (TV channels, programs, TV series, etc.); Share opinions about a French production. For example, “I absolutely loved the Lupin series on Netflix. I could never put down the remote control at the end of an episode. It is about (…)”
  3. Recollect negative emotions about some TV programs; Use expressions about Criticisms to reproach a bad broadcast to a TV Production. For example, “This movie is not suitable to be broadcast during the early evening.”.
  4. Study a TV program schedule from a popular media source; Choose which programs to watch while accounting for the choice; Carry out a survey to gauge the public’s preference towards TV programs.
  5. Compose tweets and social media posts to give Reviews about famous movies; Apply the Direct and Indirect Object Pronouns to avoid repetition.
  6. Watch some trailers about upcoming movies and imagine what the movies are about; Apply the structure “Imperative + Pronoun” to publicize the movies to the public.

  5. Learn vocabulary about DIY and Repairs; Master the structure and use of Gerunds to speak about simultaneous actions. For example, “I found an advertisement about an interesting French course while browsing through an old newspaper.”; Apply Gerunds to suggest how to solve problems. For example, “You can get your shower fixed by calling a handyman.”; Debate about whether to throw or repair old and damaged objects.

  6. Study documents about the Uberized Lifestyle; List applications that are used to digitalize and ease life; Apply the Present Conditional to imagine how life would change with new inventions and applications.

  1. Recall and acquire new vocabulary related to Holiday Accommodation and Services; Study documents about a Trip from Quebec to Niagara and a Travel Notebook; Present a holiday itinerary to a foreign friend visiting a local region.

  2. Learn vocabulary about Air Travel; Practise the language used to make reservations (flight, hotel, car rental, amusement park, etc.). For example, “I would like to book a helicopter. Could you inform me about the hourly rates, please?”

  3. Review the Past tenses (Simple and Imperfect) and stress on subject-verb agreements; Gather ideas from a document on Giverny and write about an imaginative trip in the past by correctly applying Past tenses.

  4. Acquire vocabulary about Tourism and Attractions; Watch a video about Tourism in France to select a French region for a trip while giving reasons for the choice; Write a short article to highlight the main attractions in a country.

  5. Discover different types of Tourism with Colours (Green tourism, Blue tourism, etc.); Share opinions about each type of tourism; Create a new form of tourism for the future while specifying possible key locations.

  6. Master the Demonstrative Pronouns (this/these/that/those) and apply them to mention about tourist attractions; Express oneself enthusiastically and indifferently in response to suggested locations.

  1. Recollect vocabulary about Studies; Discover and compare the French Educational system with the local one. For example, “In France, children usually join school at the age of 3 whereas in the UAE, they usually do so at the age of 4.”

  2. Master the structure “It’s + noun/pronoun + that” to emphasise elements in a sentence; Write about one’s favourite and least favourite teachers; Share opinions about Teacher’s Day in different cultures.

  3. Acquire vocabulary about Tertiary Education and get familiar with the different types of Exams; Read and understand a text about the Gap Year in France; Discuss about the pros and cons of taking a Gap Year; Relate personal experiences about Traineeship.

  4. Recollect and learn new vocabulary related to Work, Professional fields and Professions; Identify the key elements in a Curriculum Vitae from a text; Create one’s own CV in French.

  5. Recall reasons why one’s family members, friends and colleagues wanted a job change or resignation; Ask questions and apply the Reported Speech (Present) to divulge information about current reasons for a job change; List motivating factors to stay in a job or company.

  6. Listen to a document on Summer Jobs and share one’s ideas; Identify the structure “verb + preposition”; Scrutinize different offers for Permanent Jobs and Summer Jobs and select a position to write a Cover Letter for.

  1. Recall vocabulary related to Geography and Environment (the flora and fauna); Acquire new vocabulary around the theme of Environmental Pollution and Protection; Understand and communicate ideas about a Trekking/Backpacker’s Chart.

  2. Discover organizations that protect the oceans; Relate one’s reasons for persuasion by using the structure “After having + past participle”; Write about a Beach Cleaning experience by stressing on its purpose. For example, “After having watched a traumatizing video about sea turtles, I joined a Beach Cleaning program. I picked up all torn plastic bags to clean the beach and so that they are not eaten by turtles.”

  3. Read a document about Afforestation and identify the goals of the association; Write a letter to be a member of a green association by stating one’s goals and what one can contribute to.

  4. Study the Passive Form (Present, Past and Future); Use the Passive Form to summarize a text on A Scary Visit; Apply the Passive Form to express ideas from a different point of view. For example, “A biologist observes the plants.àThe plants are observed by a biologist.”

  5. Memorise the names of different domestic animals; Learn vocabulary to describe animals’ physical appearance; Enact a visit to the vet; Enact a report to the police for a lost pet.

  6. Memorise the names of wild animals; Study a document and watch a video about a WWF campaign to save animals; Express one’s concern about different endangered animals; Stress on disapproval against the exploitation of Wildlife.
