Course Outline

  1. Learn vocabulary related to day-to-day issues. For example, “to be late, road traffic, lose a belonging”; Express oneself about a succession of events while adding negative Emotions. For example, “What a horrible day! First, the strike, and now a car breakdown. I am very angry!”

  2. Ask and give explanations using “Why” and “Because”; Narrate happenings using the Past Simple of Reflexive verbs. For example, “Why is there ambulance? Because the driver has injured himself.”

  3. Draw a list of Obligations and Prohibitions on the road using the modal verb “Must”. For example, “Motorcyclists must wear a helmet at all times.”

  4. Study a document about Superstitions in France; Decide which lucky charms to give each other in different situations; Use the Indirect Object Pronouns “him, her, them” to avoid repetition. For example, “I gave him a four-leaf clover because he has an exam.”

  5. Acquire vocabulary about Body Parts and aches. For example, “Yesterday, a black cat crossed my way. Now my left foot is aching. I am worried!”; Ask and inform about one’s Health.

  6. Advise a sick friend using the Imperative form and modal verbs “Must” and “Can”. For example, “You must go see a doctor! Take a painkiller first. Can you take some days off?”

  1. Acquire vocabulary about Fields of Study; Share preferences about school subjects.
  1. Use the Zero Conditional (If + Present à Present) to enlist conditions in order to apply at a university and to be considered for an Exchange Program; Apply the structure “for+objective” to state one’s goals.

  2. Relate one’s Educational Background; Apply the Time Indicators “for a long time, while, always” to speak about lengths of duration.

  3. Watch and discuss about a video of University Students expressing themselves; Study and understand a document about a University Training.

  4. Acquire vocabulary related to the Hierarchy and different Departments at work; Recognise tasks for every department.

  5. Identify the necessary competencies for different jobs; Use the Relative Pronouns “Who” and “That” to speak about professions and professionals. For example, “It’s a company that sells paintings. The artists who work there are very dedicated.”

  1. Review vocabulary about the City and Countryside; Identify the pros and cons of living in each; Compare the lifestyles in both using the structure “more/less + noun/adjective + than”. For example, “In the countryside, there are more plants than in the city. The countryside is less polluted than the city.”

  2. Opt for a Lifestyle Change; Use phrases to express dissatisfaction and decision-making. For example, “I’m fed up of all the morning traffic and I’ve had enough of all the stress at work. So, I have decided to move to a village.”

  3. Revise the use of the pronoun “There”; Substitute the phrase “noun+at” to mean “it”. For example, “I am thinking about it. You pay attention to it.”

  4. Watch a video about Going Green and study a document about Cultivating one’s own Garden; Write about preferences for growing one’s own garden.

  5. Read a document about people living in the countryside; Gather vocabulary about Nature and activities in nature to write about the daily life in the countryside; Apply the Contracted Articles to speak about activities and places.

  6. Express Similarities using the structure “the same + noun” and “as + adjective + as”. For example, “This neighbourhood has the same houses as in Paris. But the gardens are as big as in the countryside.”

  1. Learn vocabulary about Foreign Languages and identify Learning Strategies to master a foreign language.

  2. Discuss a document on a Multilingual Evening by using Direct and Indirect Object Pronouns. For example, “We informed them about the learning difficulties, but the course still appeals to them.”

  3. Study a document about French-speaking Celebrities; Use Present, Past and Future time expressions to summarize the language learning experience of a celebrity or a friend.

  4. Listen to a French song and identify Clichés about French people; Add other known clichés to the list. For example, “French people are very elegant. They also eat frogs!”

  5. Learn basic vocabulary related to the French Media; Understand Predictions in a Horoscope read; Express agreement and disagreement about the different predictions.

  6. Communicateaboutone’sinterestinnewspapersand magazines; Speak about some of the latest French news.
